    Turnover growth already achieved

2026 turnover to October, compared with the whole of 2025.

  • +321%

Google Search clicks beyond the homepage

    From 34 to 143, July–September 2026 compared with July–September 2025.

  • +172%

Google Search impressions beyond the homepage

From 14,959 to 40,694 across the same two periods.

  • 6×

Growth in wooden guttering page clicks

From 12 to 72, counting the old timber guttering page it replaced in the 2025 figure.

The turnover figure was reported by the owner. It compares 2026 turnover up to October with turnover for the whole of 2025, not the same months of each year.

Across the whole site, including the homepage, searches for the business by name and its Google Business Profile, Google Search clicks rose by about 30% and impressions by 50.9%, comparing July–September 2026 with July–September 2025.

July–September 2025 was predominantly before the SEO work started in late August 2025, although September 2025 overlaps with the project.

About Sheffield Gutter Services

Sheffield Gutter Services is an established local business providing gutter cleaning, repairs, replacements and installations across Sheffield and the surrounding areas, including specialist work on wooden and cast iron guttering. You can see the website atsheffieldgutterservices.co.uk.

Like many established trades businesses, it already had the experience and the reputation. The opportunity was a website that reflected that expertise and made the business easier to find online.

The challenge

When I began working with Sheffield Gutter Services in August 2025, the aim was a stronger online presence that could support the business's long-term growth, not just better keyword rankings.

The website needed to explain the services clearly, be straightforward for customers to use and help the business compete in Google's local search results.

There was a commercial aim too: more visibility for higher-value work such as gutter replacements, installations and specialist guttering, alongside the routine cleaning that is already an important part of the business.

My approach

  1. Building a website designed around the business

I built a site that presents Sheffield Gutter Services as the experienced local company it is, with a clear structure and an easy way to get in touch. SEO was planned in from the start, so the site was a foundation to build on.

  2. Creating dedicated pages for individual services

Instead of one general guttering page, cleaning, repairs, replacements, installations and specialist guttering each got their own page. Each page can then match what people actually search for, with more weight behind the higher-value services.

  3. Strengthening local SEO

I tied the website, the services, the area covered and the Google Business Profile more closely together, so the key pages line up with local searches. On 1 September 2025 I added tracking to the profile's website link, to see how customers find the business.

  4. Developing helpful, relevant content

The Gutter Guides section answers the questions customers commonly ask about guttering materials, problems and solutions. Each guide links to the relevant service page, so the content supports the core services.

  5. Ongoing SEO improvements

Launch was only the beginning. Since then I've kept improving the site using Google Search Console data: refining pages, fixing technical issues, strengthening internal links and following up the most valuable searches.

The results: more visibility and more visitors from Google

The clearest sign of progress is what happened to the pages beyond the homepage: the service pages, the Gutter Guides and the rest of the site.

Metric20252026Change
Google Search clicks34143+321%
Google Search impressions14,95940,694+172%

These figures leave out every version of the homepage address, including the tracked link from the Google Business Profile. That matters because the homepage is where people land when they already know the business by name. Growth on the other pages means more people are finding Sheffield Gutter Services by searching for a specific service.

Metric20252026Change
Google Search clicks503655+30%
Google Search impressions35,29353,249+50.9%

The whole-site figures include searches for the business by name and visibility through its Google Business Profile, so they show overall Google Search performance, not ranking improvements alone.

Not everything improved. Specialist services gained the most, while results for some of the main search terms are mixed, particularly gutter repairs and replacements. That is where my work is focused now.

All figures are from Google Search Console. July–September 2025 was predominantly before the SEO work started in late August 2025, although September 2025 overlaps with the project. The first table counts results page by page and the second counts them for the site as a whole, which is how Search Console reports each, so the two should not be added together.

Clicks to the wooden guttering page went from 12 to 72 across the compared three-month periods: six times as many.

The 2025 figure includes the old website's timber guttering page, which the new page replaced, so it is a like-for-like comparison. Impressions rose from 1,277 to 4,149 on the same basis.

The period cast iron guttering page tells a similar story on a smaller scale, going from no clicks to 11.

This demonstrates the potential of building dedicated, well-optimised pages around specialist services that customers actively search for.

For Sheffield Gutter Services, these pages are especially valuable because they help promote services beyond routine gutter cleaning.

Continued growth and new opportunities

Across the whole site, the website recorded 290 Google Search clicks in August 2026, its strongest month within the 16-month dataset analysed.

This was followed by another 237 clicks in September 2026.

At the same time, ongoing analysis has highlighted further opportunities, particularly around searches for gutter repairs and replacements in Sheffield.

My focus is now on building upon the improvements already achieved and converting greater search visibility into commercially valuable enquiries.

Real business growth, not just better rankings

Since launching the new website and beginning ongoing SEO work, Sheffield Gutter Services has reported substantial business growth.

By October 2026, the company had already exceeded its entire 2025 turnover by 31.3%, with almost three months of the year remaining. That compares the year so far with the whole of the previous year, not the same months of each.

The business is targeting further growth before the end of the year. If its year-end target is achieved, annual turnover would be 62.9% higher than in 2025. That is a target, not a result.

While this growth cannot be attributed solely to the website and SEO work, the owner has expressed how pleased he is with the business's progress.

It also reinforces why I believe website design and SEO should work together, rather than being treated as completely separate services.

A website is just the starting point

One of the most important lessons from this project is that a new website doesn't have to be the end of the relationship.

For Sheffield Gutter Services, website design provided the foundation, while ongoing SEO has helped me build upon that investment over time.

By understanding the business, identifying the services that matter commercially and continually improving the website's search visibility, I've been able to develop a longer-term approach focused on meaningful results.

And with further opportunities identified in Google Search Console, there's still plenty of potential to build upon the progress made so far.
